I'm being considered for a role at an organization, and instead of writing my own resume-style summary, I want you to describe me, because you've talked with me over time and know how I actually think, work, and what lights me up.
The organization's whole philosophy is that people do their best work when they're positioned in something they're genuinely passionate about, that challenges them, and that gives them real stimulation, financial, mental, or spiritual. They're not looking for who can fake the most skills. They're trying to place people where they'll thrive for their own sake and the mission's. So be honest, not flattering. An accurate picture helps me land somewhere I'll actually love; an inflated one puts me somewhere I'll struggle.
Please describe me in these areas, in natural descriptive language, full sentences, not keyword lists:
1. Who I am: my core personality, how I engage with the world, what people consistently experience working with me.
2. What energizes me: the problems, topics, or tasks I lean into without being asked; when I seem most in flow.
3. What drains me: the work I avoid or do poorly, so I'm protected from the wrong seat.
4. Natural strengths: what I'm genuinely good at, including things I undervalue in myself.
5. Growth edges: skills I don't have yet but am clearly wired to learn well, where a challenge would stretch me in a good way.
6. How I work best: solo vs team, structure vs autonomy, fast vs deep, leading vs building, ambiguity tolerance, communication style.
7. What I care about: my values, what gives me meaning, what a role must offer for me to pour myself in.
8. Domains of real interest: industries, crafts, or subjects I return to on my own time.
Write it as if introducing me to someone who wants to set me up to succeed. Be specific and use real examples from our conversations where you can. Start with one sentence that captures my essence.
